CURE International began providing medical care for disabled children in San Pedro Sula Honduras in 2004. Dr. Gustavo Vasquez, CURE's Medical Director, operated weekly clinics in area hospitals. CURE also regularly sends teams of American physicians, nurses, physical therapists and dentists to provide care and perform surgery. Each team treats about 100 children and performs about 40 surgeries.

Thanks to two generous donations, the dream of a stand alone hospital became a reality in 2008. A businessman in Honduras donated the land for the new hospital and Rick Melson, a residential homebuilder from Florida, agreed to be the project manager, providing seed money and lending his 35 years of construction expertise to the project. In addition to these contributions, a group of local architects and engineers agreed to donate their time to prepare the architectural plans for the facility.

Since the inception of its work in Honduras, CURE has seen more than 11,069 patients and performed more than 1,282 surgeries.
