CURE Clubfoot Worldwide
CURE Clubfoot Worldwide is an initiative to eradicate clubfoot globally. CURE Clubfoot Worldwide will focus on building countrywide treatment programs in developing countries through partnerships with the International Ponseti Association, local physicians and in-country NGOs. The goal is to create a treatment network in each country that can raise awareness about the deformity, train nationals to perform simple, corrective casting procedures and provide funding for poor children who have no ability to afford treatment.
The goal of CURE Clubfoot Worldwide is to eradicate clubfoot through 100 countrywide programs in 10 years. From now until the end of 2008, CURE plans to have cared for over 7,000 clubfoot children in the developing world.
As part of the initiative, CURE has announced a partnership with the International Ponseti Association based at the University of Iowa to standardize training and treatment protocols using the Ponseti Method. Based on 50 years of medical research and development of treatment methods for clubfoot in children, Dr. Ignacio Ponseti and the medical team at the University of Iowa are the recognized worldwide authorities. Help give these children the opportunity to walk.
